Last weekend while Dan was out trimming the trees in our front yard, he looked up and discovered a bird's nest built in a very unusual place--on top of one of our downspouts.
I've got to say it's a pretty ingenious place. With the overhang of the roof it stays pretty dry even in all the rain we've been having.
Birds are so smart!

Pool party
Saturday night, we all went over to Jeff and Kathryn's for a pool party. Since it rained Saturday morning it was a little chilly to swim, so only the boys, Jeff and Lauryn swam.
Kathryn grilled burgers, hot dogs and brats and we had a great dinner.

Wii
Nana Harla and Papa Frank are visiting this weekend so they can watch Brett play baseball Monday night.
Nana recently bought a Wii, so she brought her remote with her and she and the boys had a bowling competiton on Saturday afternoon.
Not sure who won, but they had a good time.

High School Musical
On Friday night, I took Brett to see the Maize Recreation Commission's production of High School Musical.
The cast was made up of kids from Maize Schools and they only had seven weeks to put the whole thing together. I have to say, it was really a pretty good show.
Brett really loved the Disney movie and he seems to have an interest in music, so I may start taking him to other shows.

Baseball
Despite all the rain, we managed to have a ball game tonight.
Brett did pretty well considering it's been almost a week since he last played. He got on base two of his three times at bat.
Here is some video of him at bat and coming home.

Father's Day
The boys woke Dan up early today to give him the cards they made for Father's Day. Brett made Dan breakfast: yogurt and toast slathered with butter. He made sure Dan knew that the butter was low fat, since he's been watching his diet.

Dan let the boys pick where we'd go for lunch and they decided on the Chinese buffet. After that we went shopping at the mall. It was a great day--I finally got the Nike Mary Jane's I'd been wanting, but even though it was Father's Day, Dan didn't find anything for him!

Fishing clinic
Today we took the boys to the Eagle's fishing clinic at Chisholm Creek Park. We visited the wildlife center and walked around the park while Dan helped with the clinic.

2 for 1
I have been remiss in posting on my blog this week, so I am offering a 2 for 1 special. I will blog about last weekend and this weekend in one post since I'm so far behind.
Last Friday night, Brett had his first baseball game of the season. He did pretty well. He's video below of one of his at-bat's:
On Saturday, we went to Kansas City to celebrate our youngest niece, Maggie's, birthday. The kids spent most of the weekend in Nana Harla's pool.

Today (Saturday), Casey was invited to his kindergarten friend, Kole's, pizza and swimming birthday party.
Instead of goodie bags, the kids were each able to take home swimming pool toys like noodles, water guns and balls.
